September Is Recovery Month!
|
Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. This year's theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Are Stronger.
All month, SAMHSA will explore how integrated care, a strong community, sense of purpose, and leadership contribute to effective treatments that sustain the recovery of persons with mental and substance use disorders. The 2019 Recovery Month observance will focus on community members, first responders, the healthcare community, and youth and emerging leaders highlighting the various entities that support recovery within our society.
In the spirit of community, SAMHSA invites you to learn more about recovery activities in your area by participating in events near you or help bring your community together by hosting an event and posting in on the SAMHSA website! National Recovery Month events are taking place across the country - find an event near you or find out how to plan an event in your community!
