NAADAC Supports Resolution Recognizing Addiction Professionals Introduced in U.S. House of Representatives
|
Representatives Dave Joyce (R-OH) and Tim Ryan (D-OH) introduced legislation in the House of Representatives on Monday, June 3, honoring the contributions of the addiction profession workforce. NAADAC worked closely with the authors of the resolution and proudly supported its introduction.
NAADAC is proud to have been involved in the crafting of this resolution and is honored to be involved in recognizing the dedication and hard work of the 100,000 addiction-focused professionals across the country.

Research tells us that members of the LGBTQ+ community are at greater risk for substance use and mental health issues than the rest of the population. In honor of Pride Month, NAADAC welcomes you to learn more about treating and supporting those suffering from substance use disorders within the LGBTQ+ community with the below resources.
NAADAC offers two free on-demand webinars regarding treating members of the LGBTQ+ community. Providing Culturally Competent and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Affirmative Care, presented by Philip T. McCabe, CSW, CAS, CDVC, DRCC, and Influences on Addiction and Mental Health in the LGBT Population, presented by Mary Sue Green, PhD, LMFT, each provide valuable information for practitioners providing services to individuals identifying as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
The NAADAC 2019 Annual Conference in Orlando, FL on September 28 - October 3, 2019, will feature a breakout session titled Substance Use Disorder: Military Veterans and LGBTQ Populations presented by Ami Crowley, EdD, ACS, ICADC, MCAP, Justina Wong, BA, and John "JJ" Jackson, BA.
