NAADAC Executive Director Cynthia Moreno Tuohy Represented NAADAC at the White House
|
Last week, on October 24th, NAADAC Executive Director Cynthia Moreno Tuohy was invited to represent NAADAC at the White House during the "A Year of Historic Action to Combat the Opioid Crisis" event.
During the event, President Trump remarked on the opioid crisis before signing into law the Substance Use Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act (H.R.6). This bill to expands treatment and recovery services, improves prevention, and bolsters efforts to fight deadly synthetic drugs like fentanyl.
The bill also includes key NAADAC priorities, including provisions that:
- Incentivize individuals to pursue substance use disorder treatment professions by offering student loan relief;
- Protect against the erosion of privacy rights of individuals with substance use disorders; and
- Remove the IMD exclusion for all substance use disorder treatment and allow Medicaid payment for eligible individuals for up to 30 days annually.

Call for Nominations for NAADAC Mid-South (AR, LA, OK, TX) Regional Vice President

NAADAC Members - Let NAADAC hear your voice!
Nominations are now being accepted in a Special Election for the open position of NAADAC Mid-South Regional Vice President for the term 2018-2020. This RVP represents the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas and sits on NAADAC’s Executive Committee. The nomination period is open from October 24, 2018 to November 16, 2018, with special election voting taking place November 26, 2018 through December 21, 2018.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a NAADAC Professional or Retired Member in good standing.
- Must reside and work in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas.
- A minimum of two years of active engagement in the addiction recovery profession immediately prior to the nomination.
- A minimum of two years of experience on either the NAADAC Board of Directors or a NAADAC Affiliate Board.
- Must be able to perform and fulfill all duties and functions of an RVP as enumerated and described in the Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
