Recovery Support Groups for Addiction: One Size Does Not Fit All
Recovery support group
After completing treatment for drug or alcohol addiction — whether or not it’s upon discharge from a residential treatment facility or while attending counseling or an outpatient program — most people are encouraged to join a support group to help maintain recovery. If your son or daughter finds themselves in this position, regular attendance at support group meetings can provide structure to create a new daily routine, and it can offer interaction with like-minded people and a chance to feel connected rather than isolated. Support groups can be a safe space away from certain triggers and offer the opportunity to learn new, healthier coping skills from others.

There are a variety of support groups to choose from, but just as with substance use treatment, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. It may be helpful to encourage your son or daughter to try out different groups in order to find the best fit. And keep in mind that since groups are peer-led, each one can feel a bit different even if they are affiliated with the same overall program.

Through The Twelve Steps With Spiritual Truth From Scripture

Romans 3 v 19 - Obviously Gods laws apply to those to whom it was given , for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses , and the world is guilty before God. (GODS BIG BOOK)

STEP 1 _We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors. That our lives had become unmanageable.
(Romans 7:18 "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.")
( GODS BIG BOOK)

The first step in recovery is realizing you need help and asking God to help you do what you can never do on your own ! So you got to make it right with God before you make it with yourself or others. One main reason we self medicate is to deal with the consequences of being on our own separated from God. The By-product is pride , guilt , shame ,depression , fear , anxiety , regret , and just about any other negative feeling about self. The only way your going to make it right with God is come to the end of yourself and your ways of dealing with life . Romans chapter 3 verse 22 ,teaches we are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ ,and this is true for everyone who believes ,no matter who you are .
