That is a question that many people would like to ask however don't have the courage or don't know how to ask.    The answer is, Yes... there is more to recovery than just making meetings. It is living life on life's terms and having fun. For many living in recovery is new!  It may have been a long time since experiencing that feeling of joy and laughter. Its new way of life. A few ways of having fun in recovery can be attending the PRO-ACT's Recovery Walk, going to a PRO-ACT's Night Out at a Phillies baseball game, and spending Saturday, March 12, 2016 attending "PRO-ACT Goes to a 76ers Basketball Game." Tickets are just $20 which will help provide financial support to The Council. Ticket donations are also being accepted which will go to members of the recovery community who may not have the financial means at this time to participate in this event. Let's Have Some Fun in Recovery It Should Be More Than Just Going To Meetings!  Recovery Works!!   Recovery Walks! 2016 September 17, 2016 Great Plaza, Penns Landing Philadelphia, PA.  On September 17, 2016 PRO-ACT will host its 15th Annual Recovery Walk.  Save the date and get involved!  This event needs you. Last year we hosted the largest Recovery Month Event in the world. Thanks to our presenting sponsor, Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS), and many others, there were over 25,000 participants.  Those walking for recovery included dignitaries from the city, surrounding counties and state and Michael Botticelli, Director of National Drug Control Policy at the White House.   The entertainment included the Mummers, Super Heroes and Heroines, the Recovery Idol finalist selection, Doug Lyon & The Zone and wrapping up with the mayor of Philadelphia, Michael Nutter, dropping the mic with a rendition of "Rapper's Delight." That was last year.  This year will be even bigger!  An event this size requires a lot volunteers, time and planning. The planning has begun and we're looking for volunteers who would like to be a part of and to participate in the process to get ready forSeptember 17th, 2016. STEP 2 Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity(AA BIG BOOK)

Unfortunately some will never get to this step and be robbed of life prematurely. Pride is a Prison and you will remain in there until you admit your inability to shake your shortcomings and addictions. God is waiting , ready and willing for you to get to this point so He can supernaturally pick up the pieces of your life and put them back together again. Stay in Prison if you must ,but there is a better way that many of us have taken. We know the way out and this is one of the keys that will unlock the main door but you have to make a choice . STAY OR GO ! Pride is a Prison and you will die there addicted , alone , and broken if you chose to stay.

We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us.

	Partnership President and CEO, Marcia Lee Taylor, will join the Addiction Policy Forum today in New Hampshire from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. as part of a roundtable discussion on the addiction and heroin epidemic. They will be joined by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), local families and key stakeholders from law enforcement, prevention, treatment and recovery. Taylor will address the challenges we face in representing families who struggle with drug abuse and will stress the importance of providing adequate resources to tackle the current prescription drug and heroin crisis that we are seeing all over the country. Additional co-hosts will include Alkermes, Conx2share, Faces and Voices of Recovery, Hope for New Hampshire and National Council for Behavioral Health. The event will be streamed live for the public.
