AUGUST 31ST: INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY
What is International Overdose Awareness Day?

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is a global event held on August 31st each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose.

Today we honor the lost lives taken too early by addiction, the mothers, the parents, our children and loved ones. Today we celebrate their lives and their memory as we march and do our vigil.

Today we help someone struggling, and we remember the lives of those taken early from us. Forgotten Mom and all other supporters will be involved in the march in many states like Washington DC, Florida, and others. If you can't make it and want us to share the love of someone special in your life that you lost to the disease of addiction, please share their name and picture if possible we will do prayers and pay our respects to all of them.

We need to bring this country and entire world together and fight the disease of addiction with love and unity. We are all in this struggle together, and it will take a nation to make a difference.
International Overdose Awareness Day hopes to diminish the stigma associated with drug use. That includes all drugs, licit and illicit (and alcohol, too).

Taking its themes as prevention and remembrance, its goals are:

•To provide an opportunity for people to publicly mourn for loved ones, some for the first time, without feeling guilt or shame.

•To include the greatest number of people in Overdose Awareness Day events, and encourage non-denominational involvement.

•To give community members information about the issue of fatal and non fatal overdose.

•To send a strong message to current and former drug users that they are valued.

•To stimulate discussion about overdose prevention and drug policy.

•To provide information on the range of support services that exists in the local community.

•To prevent and reduce drug-related harm by supporting evidence-based policy and practice.

•To remind all of the risks of overdose.

"I   want to thank everyone here at Narconon. I have done meth for 24 years of my life and before coming here I hit rock bottom. I was suicidal, I was looking at some major jail time, and I had my family freaking out. I had an interventionist come to the house and he gave me an intervention.
“I have never been to a rehab before and he asked me if I would be willing to go to a drug rehab and I said yes. I asked him when and where and he said in half an hour we were going to Louisiana. Well, I got here at 2:30 AM and wasn’t in a good condition at all. I was sucked up, and I had no self-confidence. I was a total mess. I got checked in by Derek and Courtney. "

"I remember the first morning out of withdrawal everyone was so happy and nice.
“I was wondering why and what kind of drugs were they on. Well, I tried to leave here many times but they wouldn’t let me. Now I am graduating from this rehabilitation program and I don’t want to leave. I love all of the staff and students here. This program is so awesome. I feel so awesome now. I feel better than I ever have in my whole life. Thanks, Derek, Alex, Rowlands and all of the other staff here. I will show you how much you guys have done for me by being sober and succeeding in life the right and sober way.” —BN Narconon Graduate

Finding The Music

The journey back from drug addiction is different for each of us.  No matter where we come from or how our addiction affected us we can all learn from each other.

Stepping Stones to Recovery

Life before Narconon was pretty much a big game to me, just not a survival one.  Life got to the point that I started to get amused by pain and I didn’t even care about anything anymore

Got My Life Back

How does someone wind up addicted to drugs? The truth is each person’s descent into drug addiction is different. This amazing story shows us a different perspective on how a person becomes addicted to drugs.

Dear Friends of Livengrin:

After 30 years, the time has come!  I have been talking to our Board of Directors about this for the past year, and it is time to make the move and jump into that thing they call RETIREMENT!  I have attached a copy of the press release we are distributing tomorrow, and I am letting you know that my last day as CEO at Livengrin will be October 13th.  It has been an honor, privilege and joy to be associated with this wonderful organization, and so many fine people, for all of this time.  Not a day has gone by that I am not grateful.

So, I hope to see you around—perhaps here at Livengrin, or maybe “down the road”.  But for now, I wish you well, and hope you will continue to support the work of my colleagues here in their effort to continue the fight against this insidious and deadly disease.

Recovery IS possible!  Thank you, all.

TWELVE STEPPING WITH SUPPORT FROM SCRIPTURE

Psalm 86v13 For great is your mercy toward me and you have delivered my soul from the depths of hell!

Step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Now that your out of the fire you must cultivate your relationship with God and His son Jesus Christ ! There is so much more in life just for you to discover . For a long time you lived way under your God given potential and you deserve everything God has to offer . Remember a Relationship is a two way Street and you have to do your part everyday . Step 11 is vital to growing a strong relationship with God your creator and Loving Father!
