Job Opening: Minority Fellowship Program Manager

NAADAC is looking for a new Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) Managerto oversee the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors (NBCC MFP-AC) at NAADAC.

This full-time position will work in a team environment with NAADAC staff, NAADAC leadership, the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) Advisory Committee, and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation.
The NBCC MFP-AC is a fellowship program for students working toward a Master’s degree in the addiction field and committed to working with underserved populations. The MFP Manager will be responsible for serving as the main contact between NAADAC and the NBCC Foundation and overseeing the performance of all services and production deliverables by NAADAC.

The NAADAC 2019 Annual Conference: Navigating the Addiction Profession will take place in Orlando, FL at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld from September 28 - October 3, 2019. Earn up to 43 CEs!

The three-day Annual Conference will take place on September 29 - October 1, 2019. In addition, attendees may register to attend one of seven full-day pre-conference sessions (7 CEs) on September 28, one full-day post-conference session (7 CEs) on October 2, or two full-day post-conference sessions (14 CEs) on October 2 - 3.

SAMHSA Grant Application Opportunity

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for the Provider’s Clinical Support System - Medication Assisted Treatment grant.

The purpose of this program is to expand the number of Drug Addiction Treatment Act (DATA) 2000 waived providers, increase understanding of the importance of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and ultimately increase access to MAT through expanded prescribing of FDA-approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorders.

SAMHSA plans to issue one grant of up to $2,000,000 per year for up to three years.

FAES Graduate Course: Alcohol Across the Lifespan

The Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a non-profit foundation that offers courses for continuing education and professional development. This spring, FAES is offering a course that will provide up to 27 NAADAC CEs.

This course, titled Alcohol Across the Lifespan, serves as an introduction to alcohol and its effects across the lifespan, with emphasis on examining how alcohol use and the risk for alcohol-related problems might develop over an individual’s life. This course is taught at the graduate level and is designed to help students understand the importance of preventing, diagnosing, and treating alcohol misuse and alcohol use disorders.

The course costs $336 and will take place February 6 - May 15, 2019 at the NIH Bethesda, MD campus on Wednesdays from 6pm - 8pm.

NAADAC Approved Education Provider Alert Regarding Cali Estes and The Addictions Academy

It has come to the attention of NAADAC that The Addictions Academy, and Cali Estes, the owner and operator of The Addictions Academy, have been using the NAADAC logo in advertising and promotional materials. Be advised that effective December 31, 2015, The Addictions Academy, and Cali Estes individually, are NOT NAADAC Approved Education Providers for training of addiction counselors.

Any training received from The Addictions Academy, or from Cali Estes individually, after December 31, 2015 will NOT be accepted toward certification or renewal education hours through the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP).

To confirm whether a provider is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, check the NAADAC Approved Education Provider Directory.
