Hello All,

Attached are the April 2016 Calendars.  Some highlights for this month include:

·         PRCC is moving!! We will still be located in the same building, but now you will enter through the first door (previously the Senior Center).  Our official move in date is Friday, April 1st so come by and visit us next week!
·         NEW!!! LGBT+ group entitled Pride and Awareness: Breaking Borders will be meeting everyWednesday from 3-4:30pm starting April 6th .
·         We have also added an additional Latinos in Recovery group meeting on Mondays from 1:30-3pm.
·         First Friday Series: Cross Systems Advocacy on Friday, April 8th from 12pm-3pm
·         Gateway to Work with Jack Land April 11th to April 15th from 10am-1pm each day
·         Volunteer Appreciation Dinner : April 14th, 4:00pm-7:00pm (please see me or John Carlson for an invitation or if you would like to donate)
·         Anger Management with Dr. Ijoy every Thursday from 3:30pm-5pm

1st East Coast Recovery Specialist Training

International Recovery Institute training's provide the theoretical basis and ethical standards for services offered by Recovery Specialists.
Recovery Specialist is defined as an individual who provides one on one client and family services within a treatment setting and/or client's home community or travel and has completed the training offered by IRI and received a Certificate of Completion.  Common titles for the role of the Recovery Specialist may include: Sober Coach, Sober Companion, Personal Recovery Assistant, Transport (Safe Passage), Family Support Specialist, Case Manager, Direct Care Staff, etc.
Recovery Specialists work with client's and their families who suffer from substance abuse, addiction, mental health and eating disorders, process addiction and many other co-occurring issues.
The training provides an International Recovery Specialist Certificate of Completion by The International Recovery Institute as well as NAADAC approved CE hours to be utilized towards state and national credentialing certifications. Each training provides 40 CE hours with an optional 6 CE hours for 6 weekly consultations. NAADAC Approved Education Provider # 151526
Training objectives include increasing ethics, professional skills and knowledge of a Recovery Specialist.
Training outline includes topics such as:
  • History of addiction & mental health fields 
  • History of Recovery Specialists
  • Ethics
  • Role & Responsibility of Recovery Specialist 
  • Providing Safe Passage (transports) and many more
