eNews: Summer Hope . . . Thanks to You!

Igniting Hope. Restoring Lives. | Read online.
CITYTEAM - eNews July 2021 Issue - Igniting Hope. Restoring Lives.
Dear Joseph,
Families facing poverty are getting a hand up, men and women battling homelessness and addiction are finding new life, and our neighborhoods are being rebuilt . . . all thanks to you!
I hope you’ll take just a moment to read so much good news in the following articles — every word is a credit to your support.
As you do, I hope you’ll also consider a special gift to CityTeam. Funding this work during the lean summer weeks is a challenge, and we depend even more on friends like you continuing to stand with us. Please know how much I appreciate you. God bless you this summer.
With gratitude,
Kwinn Tucker
Executive Director, CityTeam Chester
So Thankful for YOU!
So Thankful for YOU!
When Irene was a child, her mom brought her to CityTeam for backpacks with school supplies. As an adult, she was a hard worker who saved carefully. She never dreamed she’d need to ask for help. But after the pandemic hit and she lost her job, just putting food on the table for her children became difficult.
Thanks to you and other generous partners, she and her kids received meals and help they needed. “I have no idea what I would have done without the food,” she says.
Getting AND giving help
Today, Irene is a CityTeam volunteer. She says, “It’s such a blessing . . . I can’t pay CityTeam back in money, but I’m able to help in a different way.”
She continues: “I’m so blessed by CityTeam. Not just for what you give, but for how you are, the way you treat us. You make me feel like I’m part of a family, like I’m not alone. I want to say thank you so much for giving and helping the community. And God bless you.”
Kids + You = Potential
Kids + You = Potential
Kids naturally want what other kids have. A new backpack filled with school supplies helps a child feel better about themselves.
Self-confidence encourages children to try harder and do better in school.
Knowing their new backpack is a gift demonstrates God’s love, and yours, in a special way they understand.
Providing local kids in need with new backpacks stuffed full of school supplies is a simple but powerful way to help them reach their potential.

At CityTeam, summer is all about hope. By working together, we can provide individuals and families in crisis with the resources that will bring them hope. Your gift today will deliver services proven to equip people in need to weather the storm, find lasting change, and, ultimately, experience new life in Jesus Christ. Thank you!

The Brave Ambassador Program is accepting applications! If you apply before July 31st we will send you a welcome pack so you can showcase This Is My Brave in style!

This program is designed for college students, in-person OR online, to change the culture on college campuses and open up the conversation around mental health. This is a grassroots campaign designed to meet college students right where they are. Not all students live with mental illness, but ALL students are affected by mental health. We at This Is My Brave will equip the Brave Ambassadors with ideas, events, materials, and more, but we want this to be created by and led by college students.

We are seeking individuals who are actively involved in their college campus or would like to be! We need the storytellers, the advocates, the passionates, the outside of the box thinkers. We want students that share the vision of This Is My Brave - that we will one day live in a world where we don’t have to call it “brave” to talk openly about mental illness and addiction, we’ll simply call it “talking.”

Yes I want more information on becoming a Brave Ambassador
Is this you or does it sound like someone you know? Then sign up now, or forward this email to someone you think would be a good fit to help us change the culture of mental health on college campuses around the country!
This Is My Brave returns to the stage, in-person, this fall!
Event details will be announced soon! If you are interested in sponsoring or advertising please contact This Is My Brave Program Manager

One Mind's I Am A Champion Contest
We agree with One Mind when they say within everyone facing a mental health challenge lies the potential to be a Champion. The hallmark of a Champion is the ability to learn and grow. That's why One Mind and Laurie Hernandez are inviting you to participate in a new contest. We invite you to share a life lesson you’ve learned through your (or a loved one’s) experience with mental health challenges that has made you stronger. The first 100 entrants will take home free prize packages. All entrants can win incredible Finalist and Grand Prizes. By sharing your story, you can provide an example to inspire healthy growth in others. Artwork, essay, photography, video — the medium is up to you.
We are currently accepting submissions for the 4th annual Mental Health Film Festival screening on October 10th, 2021, in Australia, US and the UK. If you have a film about mental health, or know someone who does, please encourage them to submit to our festival!
