If you’ve been at all remotely up-to-date on the dangerous drugs that are being abused across the country, chances are you’ve heard of Xanax. This drug is specifically made to treat disorders such as anxiety and insomnia. Unfortunately, people have been abusing this substance for quite some time. Many teenagers and young adults combine this drug with alcohol to get an extreme sense of relaxation and euphoria. However, there is a new substance abuse movement on the rise that is finding a new alternative to Xanax: Etizolam.
An individual who becomes dependent on a drug or alcohol may experience withdrawal syndromes. It may also result in relapse if not addressed properly and immediately. As a person continues to abuse any substance and then reduce its consumption immediately, it can result in withdrawal symptoms. So what does withdrawal look like?
Dealing with a problem, such as addiction, is never easy especially if you are fighting for your survival alone. It’s best to have a good support system in order to build your confidence and help you to face addiction head-on. The people in your support system will remind you that, no matter what happens, you have someone you can call and talk to, instead of spending time alone. Your family, therapist, and friends, significant others, or fellow recovering addicts can all be a great support.

A Christmas Card Will Deliver a Smile!

Dear Joseph,

For people experiencing homelessness, the simple pleasure of receiving a Christmas card in the mail is not something they experience. You can help us provide that special moment of a card written with encouraging words wishing them a Merry Christmas!
Enlist your friends and family to make cards from scratch or write encouraging Christmas wishes in store-bought ones and then send them our way. We'll distribute them to our guests and their faces will light up with smiles.
Be sure to mail them to us by December 16th! If you want to include $2.25 it will cover the cost of a Christmas meal too. Thank you for helping us spread cheer in this way. Many blessings to you this Christmas season.

Yours in Christ's Service,
Jeremy Montgomery

About the Film
Authentics is a 25-minute film that was shot with professional actors in and around Atlanta. It centers around a young photographer struggling with addiction who books a job to shoot a wedding. She meets a man who is no stranger to addiction himself and who gently introduces her to the principles of SMART Recovery. He inspires her to change and, in the process, he changes too.

From the producer of the film, Daniel Stine:
“Everyone has been touched by addiction in some way or another. SMART Recovery not only reveals the light at the end of the tunnel for those struggling, but it provides them with tangible ways to get to that light. I hope this film not only captures a little bit of the SMART Recovery spirit, but I hope it introduces new people to what they are all about through the unique format of storytelling. With this film, we hope to be a little part of SMART Recovery’s continual growth.”

What People are Saying about Authentics
We are pleased to have been involved with this production. We hope the message will hit home with some of the viewers, motivating them to engage with SMART Recovery to help repair their lives. If this film helps to change just one life, we will consider our investment to have been a great success.

I saw the early screening for this and the movie was incredibly moving and well-done ... it is the most honest portrayal of addiction I have seen in a movie.
