Matt Mockus thought his alcohol addiction was impossible to overcome when he first sought wellness seven years ago. Now in coaching for several months, Mockus aims to remain healthy and prevent a recurrence of symptoms.

“Before I came here, if I had sober periods, they weren’t necessarily enjoyable,” he said. “And so I think with relapse prevention also comes growth – figuring out how to be your best self and continue to grow.”

Q: How can I help a coworker after returning from treatment?

 

A: When it comes to addiction, it’s common for people to feel unsure how to help. First and foremost, it’s your coworker’s decision whether or not to disclose that he or she is in recovery, or recently returned from treatment. Respect your coworker’s privacy the same way you would if they had received treatment for cancer or any other serious medical condition.
