More Information Watch Now Presenter Mita M. Johnson, EdD, LPC, LMFT, LAC, MAC, SAP, has degrees in biology, community counseling, and counselor education and supervision. Johnson is a core faculty member in Walden University’s School of Counseling MS program. She teaches, trains, and speaks locally and nationally on many topics including ethics, psychopharmacology and the science of addictions. She became interested in the field of addictions when she realized that most of her clients were dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance use or other addictive behavior disorders. Johnson is passionate about understanding how drugs influence the body's homeostasis systemically. She is an Executive Committee member at NAADAC as NAADAC’s President-Elect. She is also an active member of the Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals. Johnson has been working as a clinician for 29 years, and currently maintains a thriving private practice where she is providing counseling, clinical supervision and consultation.
