2017 Honorary Co-Chair, Tony Luke, Jr. |
Philadelphians typically associate the name "Tony Luke" with restaurants (especially ones that are famous for cheesesteaks!) -- but since March, the famous family has been struggling to come to grips with the loss of a loved one due to an overdose of heroin.
Tony is announcing a new initiative, #Brown and White (the colors of heroin), to stop the stigma of heroin addiction and wants assure others who have lost a loved one to this dreadful disease that they are not alone! He wants people to know that they should not be ashamed. There are people out there who need help, not judgement. "These people have a name and they have a voice and I'm tired of hiding that", says Luke.
Tony Luke has accepted to be the honorary co-chair for this year's walk/run with the Angels.

Fentanyl Linked to Thousands of Overdoses
Heroin is being laced with a drug said to be 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine -- called Fentanyl. According to the Washington Post, "In two dozen of the nation's largest cities, fentanyl is becoming a major part of the national opioid crisis" and responsible for so many overdoses in the area.

New Meeting at the Dwier Center
You can find many meetings on the City of Angels calendar which include AA, Rosary, EDA, NarAnon, Warrior Down, The Breakfast Club, COA Board meetings and more.
The newest meeting, which will take place on Tuesdays at Dwier, is the first "ACoA" meeting to come to Hamilton! Adult Children of Alcoholics is an organization that is intended to provide a forum to individuals who desire to recover from the effects of growing up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional family. Hoping this meeting is found with a warm welcome and a growing community.
