What's Happened This January at Sunday Breakfast

Success Stories from the Mission

Ed came to the Mission from South Carolina in need of a place to stay after losing all of his identification documents. Ed knew he would be welcomed because 10 years ago he volunteered at Sunday Breakfast. As soon as Ed arrived he met with Kelly, our Case Manager, to get copies of his birth certificate and social security card, which he needed to get a new PA “REAL ID". While working closely with Kelly, Ed saw an opportunity to help others who were at the Mission. Ed decided to start a daily Bible study were guests at the Mission could come and share their struggles and triumphs.

After just 55 days, with all his documents in order, Ed was able to get his own apartment in Philadelphia. Ed still comes to the Mission weekly to lead his Bible study and give hope and guidance to all who come to the Mission.

Winter, Covid-19, and Your Impact on the Mission

As the days get colder and the pandemic continues, our commitment to those who are hungry, homeless, and hurting has not waivered. With your support, we have been able to continue supporting those in need and while making significant improvements to our facilities. Because of you, we were able to create essential indoor and outdoor spaces for our guests through our dining room and courtyard renovations.

And now, we are on our way to completing our shower renovations. Your gifts have helped us raise the money to replace a single shower with 16 private shower stalls each with its own changing area. You are providing dignity, love, and respect to each man who is seeking stability and hope at the Mission.
These renovations are no small project. Once the showers are complete, we will be able to provide the essential care and services to those seeking help. We will be able to not only meet the needs of our guests but also of those experiencing homelessness.
