What Does God Think About Money?

There is an "anti-prosperity teaching" attitude in the church today, yet most of the people with that attitude want to prosper. There are reasons this attitude is so prevalent. Some prosperity teachers live lifestyles that accommodate criticism. I understand that. But faith comes by hearing God's Word (Rom. 10:17), and faith for prosperity comes by hearing teaching on prosperity. We need to know what Scripture says about money and prosperity.

First Chronicles 29:12 says, "Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all."

The Lord said that those who trust in Him would not lack any good thing (Ps. 34:10). Trusting in yourself or this world's system is a recipe for disaster. It's not in man to direct his own steps (Jer. 10:23). There's a better way, and that's God's way.

"But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day" (Deut. 8:18).

God is the One who gives us power to get wealth. Notice that He doesn't give us wealth directly. He gives us the power, or ability, to get wealth. Whether you realize it or not, God is the source of your prosperity, and His Word has a lot to say about money.

Overwhelmed by addiction? Reject tough love, embrace compassion

Most of the prevailing myths around addiction are simply untrue. You don't have to sit by while someone you love "hits bottom." You don't have to cut them off at the first sign of relapse. You don't have to yell or fight or confront them during an intervention. In fact, science says you shouldn't do those things.

Q: Do I really need to go to treatment or rehab?

A: Clinical inpatient treatment is an important option for those who suffer from severe addiction. Additionally, medically-managed detox may be necessary in order for someone to safely start the treatment process.
However, it's important to remember that not everyone needs such intense support.
