ADDICTION IS NOT YOUR FAULT 9/19/19

September 19 , 2019 TRANSFORMATION THROUGH SPIRITUAL TRUTH FROM SCRIPTURE AND THE TWELVE STEPS TODAY STEP 2

Step 2: Came to believe that God could restore us to sanity.  (World Big book)

1 Peter 2:11  (NLV)
11 Dear friends, your real home is not here on earth. You are strangers here. I ask you to keep away from all the sinful desires of the flesh. These things fight to get hold of your soul.  (GODS BIG BOOK)

Inside of every single one of us is a war! If we do not address the Spiritual part of us we will lose it all here in life and the life here after. The struggle is real and impossible without God. Live your Life and work your recovery from a Spiritual perspective and stop blaming yourself and beating yourself up. Start reading Gods Big Book and what it says about you !Listen no more to the critics remove the labels and start fighting your addictions with God. Tell yourself this Morning addiction is not my fault its a By product of myself lacking Gods knowledge about whats really going on inside of my heart . I am suffering from Soul decay and I have a very real Spiritual enemy who wants me to lose here in life so He can win in the here after.

By Joseph Dickerson/Recovery Connections Network Psalm 103 v 3- He forgives all my sins and Heals all my diseases! Jesus Christ has already won your war with addiction!Matthew 8 v 17 This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”

From Homeless to Serving the Homeless, a Life Transformed.

YOU SHOWED ERIC THE WAY FORWARD

You have changed Eric’s life, and have invested in his life transformation. Last fall, we shared the first half of Eric’s story with you.
When Eric hit rock bottom, he bought a bus ticket to Philadelphia and he came to Sunday Breakfast for a meal and shelter. Two years later, through your continued support, Eric has found joy, hope, purpose, and stability in his life once more.
“Without Sunday Breakfast, I wouldn’t know what I would have become. They took me in and walked alongside me through everything,” Eric expressed with thankfulness in his voice. “I am so proud of myself. It was hard, but I am here now.”
Eric had a happy childhood. Sadly, just after his high school graduation, his mother passed away unexpectedly. “After my mom’s passing, I grew up real fast,” he remembers.
Eric began working to support his younger siblings, and after twenty-five years as a firefighter, Eric became homeless when his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) became unmanageable.
During his time in our Overcomer Program, Eric developed a heart of compassion. Eric has served as a mentor to men in need of encouragement and he tries to help them become a fighter against whatever struggles they may be facing.
Two years after first coming to the Mission for help, Eric is working through his PTSD every day and is grateful it no longer controls his life. “I live each day for God, I lean on him when things get hard,” Eric shared with tears in his eyes.
Through God’s work in his life, and his work as a Mission staff member, Eric has found peace. “Because of my job, I have learned to be patient and how to be flexible. Most of all I have discovered new energy for each day, Eric shared with a big smile.
Everyone at the Mission plays a role in serving and encouraging one another. Eric expressed his thankfulness for the volunteers for encouraging him while at work. Eric shares, “Every Wednesday, I get to work with Kit and Phil and they are great volunteers. We have built a team together. Now, every time there are volunteers downstairs, I say thank you and God bless you because I know firsthand how hard they work.”
Eric has become an essential member of the Mission staff. Over the past 18 months on staff, he has developed new skills and has grown in his responsibilities. As part of the Operations and Maintenance Team, Eric helps keep the Mission running by completing preventive maintenance and needed repairs at the Mission.
He is also building soft skills like critical thinking, project management, typing, basic computer skills, and conflict resolution. “I love my job, and I love how it gives my mind something to do all the time,” Eric concludes.
We are blessed to have Eric on staff. He is flourishing, achieving independence, and growing in his faith. Your commitment to meet Eric’s spiritual and practical needs is a true gift and are life-changing. Thank you!
Make a Difference in the Lives of More Men Like Eric Today!

Announcing New NAADAC Specialty Online Training Series: Clinical Supervision in the Addiction Profession
FacebookLinkedInTwitter
Clinical supervision is a mutual endeavor enhanced by a trusting-bidirectional relationship that leads to professional development and enhanced client care through mentoring, guidance, and clinical oversight (Durham, 2019).

With the goal of maintaining clinical efficiency, adherence to ethical guidelines, and protection of those most vulnerable, NAADAC presents our newest specialty online training series Clinical Supervision in the Addiction Profession.

This six-part webinar series will provide critical training on current trends and research, technology-based and evidence-based practices, and the overall structure of effective clinical supervision. In addition, this series will support NAADAC’s new Clinical Supervision: An Overview of Functions, Processes, and Methodology manual. Those who successfully attend the full webinar series and pass all six CE quizzes for this six-part series will be eligible to apply for the Certificate of Achievement for Clinical Supervision in the Addiction Profession. Each webinar in the series is worth 1.5 CEs and costs $25 each.

The first webinar, The Supervisory Relationship, will take place on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST. Presenter Thomas Durham, PhD, will provide instruction on how the supervisory alliance impacts the therapeutic alliance.
